In 1888, Pope Leo XIII composed the Prayers to St. Michael the Archangel after a vision in which he saw the church threatened. He ordered that this and other prayers be added immediately after Low Mass.
In 1925, Pope Pius XI wrote the encyclical Quas Primas, in which he saw that the world was no longer dedicated to having Christ the King reign temporally. He instituted the Feast of Christ the King on the Sunday closest to the Feast of All Saints to show the relationship of the Saints to their King.
If these Popes could see so many decades ago what problems faced the Church and the world in their days, how so we must pray for our Church and our world in ours. Our modern day world labours under a manifold of evils, but society tells us that Christ has no place in either in our lives or in politics.
As instructed by Pope Pius XI, let us pray for the restoration of Christ as our King, the one who excels all creatures by his perfection. may we be perfected in love by installing him as the King of our hearts and of our will.
The following Novena is from the Institute of Christ the King, so this is a special feast of their spirituality. Our country, and our world are in dire need of correction, for we appear rudderless. The barque of Peter is a sure way to guide us all to Christ. We must have him as the King of our will, so that we can bring the entire world to acknowledge Christ as King of the Universe. The Novena will start October 23rd, and be prayed every day until October 31st the Feast of Christ the King.
